◎Formula 3 – The Feeding Category
As mentioned, the high performance machine has functioned to improve the
driving technique of the young drivers. The setting of the machine, research and development of machines and engines are providing the drivers valuable experiences. This is the difference with introductory formula races which mainly focus on becoming experienced and skilled in driving.
Needless to say, quickness and driving skills are demanded. However, the ability on the development of machines and engine, the hardware in motorsports, are also demanded in order to have further development in Formula 1. The aggregation of Team Director, Engineer and Mechanics, etc on the set up of Formula 3 machines, at the same time, could strengthen their ability in terms of research and development.
Thus, it is proved that Formula 3 is the most suitable category to cultivate young and talented drivers. A huge number of drivers have been turned out from Formula 3 and being very active in higher category races like Formula 1. Hence, Formula 3 is considered as a Feeding Category in Motorsports.
In Formula 1, most of the drivers experienced Formula 3 and seized the opportunity to enter to a higher category. This explains that Formula 3 is an essential element in Motorsports and there must be talented drivers with boundless prospects which people must not ignore it when talk about Motorsports.

◎ F3 in countries all over the world.
Formula 3, with a high existential value, is under the presidency of Fédération
Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and series have been held in Europe, Asia and South America, etc. As all the races are held under FIA regulations, Formula 3 races in those countries have been developed into international level, together with races as if the “World Championship”, such as Masters of Formula 3 and Macau Grand Prix, it does not affect the teams and drivers to do the races outside their main battlefield. This is a distinguishing feature of the category.

◎ Japanese Formula 3- With Over 30 Years of History
Formula 3 was born in the beginning of 1950s in England as with Formula 1 and
Japanese Formula 3 started in 1979.
“Japan should also have Formula 3, races which is indispensible for the train up of young driver!” 30 years ago, people with lofty ideals brought several F3 machines from Europe and started the Series. Today, Japanese Formula 3 is the longevous motorsports category in Japan.
Japanese Formula 3 started the Series with one race at one event. Up to now, most of the events are held with 2 races, like the series in other countries. This is without doubt, giving the young drivers opportunities to gain more experiences.
In 2008, the 30th Anniversary of Japanese Formula 3, in addition to the C Class race in accordance with FIA regulations, National Class (N Class) was introduced. In N Class, machines of the previous model and one make engine are employed thus lowered the cost for doing the races. Because of this reason, Japanese Formula 3 has become a revitalized series with C Class and N Class machines. Since 2012, machines of either old or new chassis loaded with FIA prescribed engine for C Class or one make engine for N Class would be able to take part in the races, which results in increasing the opportunities for young and talented drivers to take part in Formula 3 races. |
