●松下信治、山下を抑え連勝をマーク
　小泉洋史がF3-Nで念願の初優勝！

　ツインリンクもてぎが舞台の全日本F3選手権第4戦は、HFDP RACINGの松下信治がポールポジションを獲得。最初のアタックで1分45秒567をマークし、計測終了間際にPETRONAS TEAM TOM'Sの山下健太が1分45秒614にまで近づくも、その時には松下はすでにピットに。松下が2戦連続でポールから決勝レースに臨むことになった。3番手はB-MAX Racing with NDDPの高星明誠、そして4番手はPETRONAS TEAM TOM'Sの勝田貴元が獲得。一方、F3-NクラスではTAIROKU EXCEEDの山口大陸が初のクラスポールを獲得し、これにHANASHIMA RACINGの小泉洋史、TOCHIGI Le Beausset Motorsportsの久保凛太郎が続く結果となった。

◎スタートを決めた松下がトムス勢をリード
　決勝レース第4戦のスタート進行は、午前9時35分から開始。気温は25℃、路面温度は35℃と第3戦とほとんど変わらず、周回数も同じ14周で覇が競われることとなった。
　ここでもスタートを決めたのは松下で、山下は無難なスタートを切って、その背後に。そして勝田が高星を抜いて3番手に浮上。この3台が早々と後続を引き離していく。中でも松下のペースはPETRONAS TEAM TOM'Sのふたりを上回り、またもやオープニングラップのうちに1秒2のリードを築く。F3-Nクラスでは小泉がスタートを決めて、山口の前に出たのに対し、連勝を狙った久保はスタートに失敗。KCMGの湯澤翔平の先行を許してしまう。
　4周目までファステストラップの連発で後続を引き離し続けていた松下ながら、5周目には山下がファステストラップを更新。じわりじわりと差を詰めていく。とはいえ、決定打を欠いて逆転するまでには至らず。松下もしっかりと踏み留まって、辛くも逃げ切りを果たすこととなった。「クルマのポテンシャルを100%出し切れるように走って、3連勝を目指します」と松下。このレースでもトップ3は終始単独走行。2位は山下が、3位は勝田が獲得した。

◎山口の追撃をかわし、小泉が嬉しい初優勝
　F3-Nクラスでトップを走る小泉は、間にクラスの異なるB-MAX RACING TEAMの吉田基良を挟めたこともあり、序盤のうちに大量のリードを築き上げる。吉田が4周目にコースアウトすると、2番手の山口は視界が開けるが、その時もう差は2秒に。これに満足することなく、小泉はさらに逃げ続けて嬉しい初優勝を飾ることとなった。2位は山口で、これが初めての表彰台に。3位は湯澤で、久保は4位に甘んじて連続表彰台の記録がストップした。

● Matsushita Outruns Yamashita to Make it Back-to-Back win Coveted First Victory for Koizumi in F3-N

 Nobuharu Matsushita secured his second consecutive pole for the 2014 Japanese Formula 3 Championship Rd. 4 at Twin Ring Motegi. While Kenta Yamashita of PETRONAS TEAM TOM’S set 1m45.614s at the last minute of the qualifying 1m45.567s that Matsushita set on his first attack was never beaten. Mitsunori Takaboshi (B-MAX Racing with NDDP) qualified 3rd ahead of Takamoto Katsuta (PETRONAS TEAM TOM’S). While in F3-N class Tairoku Yamaguchi (TAIROKU EXCEED) took his first pole in the class with Hiroshi Koizumi (HANASHINA RACING) in second and Rintaro Kubo (TOCHIGI Le Beausset Motorsports) in third.

◎ Matsushita Nailed the Start to Lead the TOM’S Pair in Early Stages
The starting grid presentation for the Rd. 4 started at 9:35 am to complete 14 laps in almost the same condition as in the Rd.3 at air temperature of 25 deg. C and track temperature of 35 deg. C. Matsushita nailed the start again while Yamashita made a reasonably good start with Katsuta in 3rd spot having overtaken Takaboshi. The lead trio were quickly pulling away from the rest of the field, but Matsushita’s pace was so outstanding that he built 1.2s lead over the Tom’s duo before the opening lap was completed. In the F3-N class Koizumi made a good start to get ahead of Yamaguchi, while the winner of the Rd. 3 screwed up with the start allowing Shohei Yuzawa of KCMG to coast past him.
Matsushita was easing clear of the field continuing to set fastest laps until Yamashita set the fastest lap on lap 5 and then edged up to the race leader. Just one more effort, however, was needed for the Tom’s rookie to take lead, and Matsushita held on to the spot to squeak to victory. “I’ll maximize the car’s potential for my third consecutive win,” Matsushita expressed his hope. Yamashita finished 2nd and Katsuta finished 3rd. These podium finishers were never threatened in the race.

◎ Koizumi Held off Yamaguchi to Earn his First Win
With Motoyoshi Yoshida of B-MAX RACING TEAM in the upper class in tow as a cushion Koizumi was opening up his big lead over his pursuers in the early stages. As Yoshida retired on lap 4 the 2nd placed Yamaguchi got a clear visibility ahead, but was already left over 2 seconds behind the F3-N class leader. Without breaking his pace Koizumi clinched his first win. Yamaguchi also got his first podium finish ahead of Yuzawa with Kubo failing to score his consecutive podium finish to settle for 4th.
