●第2戦では高星明誠が逆転V！
F3-Nでは三浦愛が初優勝！
PETRONAS TEAM TOM’Sのルーキー、山下健太の劇的なデビューウィンから一夜明け、引き続き鈴鹿サーキットで全日本F3選手権の第2戦が開催された。ポールポジションからスタートするのは、その山下。連勝に期待がかかることとなった。
「完璧な走りができたわけではありませんが、ポールが獲れて良かったです。スタートが苦手なのでうまくいくといいのですが、もし順位を落としてもしっかり考えて何とかします」と暗に連勝を示唆していた。

2番手にはB-MAX Racing Team with NDDPの高星明誠がつけ、3番手にはPETRONAS TEAM TOM’Sの勝田貴元が。そして、F3-Nクラスでは2戦連続でTOCHIGI Le Beausset Motorsportsの久保凛太郎がトップ。これにKCMGの湯澤翔平、EXEDY RACING TEAMの三浦愛が続く。
上空にはどんよりとした雲こそ浮かぶものの、当初の天気予報に反してドライコンディションは保たれることに。気温、路面とも第１戦より下がって、状況をやや異にする中、15台のマシンがスターティンググリッドに整列、17周の決勝に臨んだ。
決勝レースのスタートでは、本人の予想どおり山下がまたも出遅れて4番手に後退。そして再び高星が鋭いダッシュを決めて、勝田を従えてトップで１コーナーに飛び込んでいく。高星、勝田、HFDP RACINGの松下信治、山下の順でそれぞれが離れずオープニングラップを終了し、さらに2周目にはHFDP RACINGの高橋翼も加わり、激しく5台でトップが争われることとなった。

しばらくはそれぞれ隙をうかがいつつも、順位には変動がなかったものの、まず動いたのが勝田だった。「6周目のスプーンで追いついたので、シケインでかわそう」と思った勝田は狙いどおりシケインのアウトからオーバ―テイクに成功。だが、高星は冷静に遅れることなくシケインを立ち上がり、スリップストリームを使ってストレートのうちに再逆転しトップに返り咲く。続いて動いたのは山下ながら、松下の巧みなガードをようやくかわしたのは12周目の１コーナーとあって、残り周回はごくわずか。何とか勝田の背後につけることはできたものの、その間に高星は差を広げ逃げ切ることに。山下はゴール直前のストレートで勝田に並んだが、前に出るまでには至らず3位に終わった。
今シーズン、そして全日本F3選手権では初の総合優勝を飾った高星は、「いったん抜かれてしまいましたが、すぐに抜き返さないともうチャンスはないと思い、少々強引でしたが１コーナーで刺すことができました。最後はマージン持って勝てたので、本当にうれしいです」と笑顔で語っていた。2位は勝田で、3位は山下で連勝ならず。4位は松下が獲得した。
F3-Nクラスでは、またしても三浦が3番グリッドから好スタートを決め、トップで１コーナーへ。2番手には久保が続く。予選１回目にコースオフ、予選2回目でタイム計測出来なかったために最後尾スタートを強いられていたHANASHIMA RACINGの小泉洋史が一気に順位を上げて、TAIROKU EXCEEDの山口大陸の背後に。その小泉は6周目に３番手に浮上すると、先行する三浦、久保にも急接近。3台でのトップ争いがしばらく続くが、それぞれ決め手を欠いていた。

8周目のシケインで、第1戦の再現をと久保が三浦にアタックをかけるが、ここでの逆転は許されず。大きく離されることなく最終ラップまで続いた久保は、スプーンで攻めて、さらにシケインでも攻めるが、三浦はこれを冷静にガード。F3-Nクラスではあるが、全日本F3選手権史上初となる、女性ドライバーによる初優勝を三浦が飾ることになり、「満足いく結果ですが、あまりにも流れが良すぎて怖いぐらいです」と、笑顔いっぱいで語っていた。2位は久保で、3位は小泉が獲得するが、序盤のプッシュが祟って後半はペースを落とし、なんとか山口の攻勢をしのぐも前の2台からはやや離されてのフィニッシュとなった。

● Takaboshi Wins from 2nd place Maiden Victory for Miura
The day after the dramatic debut win Kenta Yamashita was expected to make it back-to-back win from pole in the Rd. 2 at Suzuka Circuit. “I’m not really happy about my driving (in the qualifying) but I’m glad I took pole,” said the PETRONAS TEAM TOM’S rookie. “I hope I can get a good start because I am not good at starting. But even if lose places I will stay calm and make out,” he showed enthusiasm.
Mitsunori Takaboshi of B-MAX Racing Team with NDDP gained second on the grid ahead Takamoto Katsuta of PETRONAS TEAM TOM’S. In F3-N class Rintaro Kubo of TOCHIGI Le Beausset Motorsports secured consecutive pole position, with Shohei Yuzawa (KCMG) in second and Ai Miura (EXEDY RACING) in third.
The weather forecast said it was going to rain but despite overcast skies the conditions were kept dry with lower air and road surface temperatures than in the Rd.1 when 15 machines lined up for 17-lap race.
Yamashita got a late start again as he had feared, dropping himself to 4th while Takaboshi made a flying start and leapt into turn 1 ahead of Katsuta. Takaboshi, Katsuta, Nobuharu Matsushita (HFDP RACING) and Yamashita rounded out the opening lap in this order, and with the addition of Tsubasa Takahashi of HFDP RACING from lap 2 onward a fierce battle for the lead was fought.
◎ Takaboshi Snatches the Lead Back from Katsuta
There was no change in the order with each of the contenders watching for a chance until Katsuta made a move on lap 6 as he got within the striking distance to Takaboshi. “When I caught up with Takaboshi through the spoon I thought I would overtake him at chicane,” said Katsuta. This he did by passing through the outside line, but Takaboshi reacted in a calm manner following him closely out of the chicane and slipstreaming down the start/finish straight to take back the lead from him. The next move was made by Yamashita, but it was only through the turn 1 on lap 12 when he finally made it through Matsushita’s tight defense and placed behind Katsuta. Yamashita put his car side-by-side with Katsuta down the straight just before the finish line but was not fast enough to get ahead of Katsuta while Takaboshi steadily opened up the gap to lead home.
“As I was overtaken I thought now was my only chance to fight back and drove aggressively to take Katsuta through Turn 1,” said Takaboshi who scored his first win of the season and his first overall win in the championship. “I am really glad I won by a big margin.” Katsuta finished second with Yamashita in third missing making it consecutive wins and Matsushita in forth.
Miura got the best start in the F3-N class again to take the lead into turn 1 ahead of Kubo while Hiroshi Koizumi started from the tail of the field and quickly made up one spot to place fifth behind Tairoku Yamaguchi (TAIROKU EXCEED) before the opening lap had even been completed. Back in the qualifying Koizumi went off the track on his first run and the time from his second run was not recorded. Once the HANASHIMA RACING driver rocketed to third on lap 6 he was reduing the gaps to Miura and Kubo. With the leading pack each waiting for an opportunity a battle for the top continued for a while.
◎ Miura Becomes the First Female Winner in the Series
Kubo carried out an attack on Miura at the chicane on lap 8 as he did in the Rd.1 only to be repulsed. Continuing to follow Miura closely he challenged her into the spoon and then into chicane on the final lap, but Miura took it in stride and while in the F3-N class she claimed victory as the first woman winner in the Japanese F3 Championship. “I am so happy about the result. Everything went too well for me to believe,” said Miura with a smile. Kubo finished second well clear of Koizumi, who had been so exhausted from his fast pace in the first stages, ending up defending from charging Yamaguchi.
